污染英语作文一:Pollution
Our surroundings are being polluted fast and man`s present efforts can not prevent it. Time is bringing us more people, and more people will bring us more industry, more cars, larger cities and the growing use of man-made materials.
What can explain and solve this problem? The fact is that pollution is caused by man -- by his desire for a modern way of life. We make "increasing industrialization" our chief aim.So we are often ready to offer everything: clean air, pure water, good food, our health and the future of our children. There is a constant flow of people from the countryside into the cities, eager for the benefits of our modern society. But as our technological achievements ha一ve grown in the last twenty years, pollution has become a serious problem.
Isn`t it time we stopped to ask ourselves where we are going-- and why? It makes one think of the story about the airline pilot who told his passengers over the loudspeaker,"I`ve some good news and some bad news. The good news is that we`re making rapid progress at 530 miles per hour. The bad news is that we`re lost and don`t know where we`re going. " The sad fact is that this becomes a true story when speaking of our modern society.
污染英语作文二:Pollution
Pollution is harmful to human beings. Polluted water causes many kinds of diseases such as diarrhea, enteritis, etc. And sometimes these diseases even take man’s life. Dirty air or air-borne garbage causes stinging eyes and running nose. Pollutants are destructive. They cause runs in nylon stockings and crack rubber tires and they eat away at stone and rust iron.
Measures ha一ve been taken to control pollution. In recent years, legislative steps ha一ve been introduced to control pollution. Rivers are being cleaned. Air is purified, and pollutants are being trapped before they are poured out of chimneys.
However, pollution problems ha一ve not been completely solved. Pesticides are widely used almost everywhere. They pollute soil, water and food. They ha一ve the power to make our streams fishless and our gardens and woodlands silent and birdless. Some factories are still using air as a dumping place for wastes. Some lakes are still dirty. Quite a few chimneys are still pouring smoke into air and noise pollution remains serious.
污染英语作文三:Water Pollution
Water pollution is caused by waste from factories and cities. Oceans are able to clean themselves, but certain seas, once they become dirty, are not able to do so. One example is the Mediterranean which lies between Europe and Africa. It has onlyeone narrow entrance to the ocean in the west. On quarter of the shores of the Mediterranean are polluted and are no longer safe for swimming, as a lot of diseases are present in the water. In most places it is not safe to eat the fish.
Lakes also ha一ve the same problems. Lake Baikal in Asia was once the cleanest in the world, with over 700 different kinds of plant and animal life. Now, however, the waters of this great lake, which is also the world's deepest (over 1,740 metres), ha一ve been dirtied by waste from a chemical factory.
In 1989 an oil tanker hit a rock off the northwest coast of Alaska. 35,000 tons of oil poured into the sea. The accident was one of the worst in history. More than 34,000 birds and 10,000 animals were killed. 4,800 square kilometres of ocean were polluted.
污染英语作文四:Pollution
Today pollution has become a more serious problem to us. The air, the water and the land are polluted by waste or poisonous things. It does harm to human beings, animals and plants.
We can not ha一ve fresh air because many factories ha一ve sent poisonous smoke into the air. Beautiful parks are made dirty by plastic tins and bags. Fish die from polluted water. Strange diseases ha一ve appeared in some places because of pollution.
I hope scientists can find ways to solve the serious problems. We are looking forward to seeing clear sky, clean rivers and beautiful parks again.
污染英语作文五:Pollution
There are still many problems of environmental protection in recent years. One of the most serious problems is the serious pollution of air, water and soil. the polluted air does great harm to people’s health. The polluted water causes diseases and death. What is more, vegetation had been greatly reduced with the rapid growth of modern cities.
To protect the environment, governments of many countries ha一ve done a lot. Legislative steps ha一ve been introduced to control air pollution, to protect the forest and sea resources and to stop any environmental pollution. Therefore, governments are playing the most important role in the environmental protection today.
In my opinion, to protect environment, the government must take even more concrete measures. First, it should let people fully realize the importance of environmental protection through education. Second, much more efforts should be made to put the population planning policy into practice, because more people means more people means more pollution. Finally, those who destroy the environment intentionally should be severely punished. We should let them know that destroying environment means destroying mankind themselves.
